HILLSBORO
LIGHTHOUSE TOURS The
Hillsboro Lighthouse Preservation Society periodically is granted permission by
the Coast Guard to conduct tours of the historic Hillsboro Lighthouse. There are
2 ways the tours travel to the lighthouse: 1) our glass-bottom boat, The Coral
Princess, travels up the Intracoastal Waterway to the Hillsboro Inlet, while tour
participants listen to the fascinating history of this local landmark; 2) a luxury
charter bus drives groups to the lighthouse via the Hillsboro Club. The trip culminates
with guests climbing to the top of the lighthouse and enjoying the breathtaking
views of the Atlantic Ocean, the Hillsboro Club and the beautiful shoreline. Certain
tour times coincide with the Barefoot Mailman statue dedication ceremony. Click
here for more info. A $25 membership fee ($35 family; $50 business)
is required to take the tour and includes the tour, plus a one-year, tax deductible
membership to the HLPS. For more information and for the next tour date, please
contact the Hillsboro Lighthouse Preservation
Society or visit their website at www.hillsborolighthouse.org.
The Hillsboro Lighthouse is under the jurisdiction of the US Coast Guard; therefore,
visits are conducted only 2-4 times per year. |
